Darrell Huckaby, a true son of the South has done it again. In this collection of columns from the pages of the Rockdale Citizen, Huckaby manages to recall a kinder and gentler era, when people took the time to know one another and enjoy the simpler pleasure of life.
His reflections on life in the north Georgia mill village of Porterdale, interspersed with essays on everyday life in the new century, will bring the reader smiles, bell-laughs, and perhaps a tear or two. In the tradition of other great Southern humorists, Huckaby has a knack for looking at everyday happenings from a unique vantage point and saying what we would like to say, if we could just think of it.
About the author: Darrell Huckaby is an educator, writer, and a much-in-demand public speaker. Raised in the Georgia mill village of Porterdale, he is as Southern as cotton, and proud of it. The 1975 (BSED) and 1997 (MSED) graduate of the University of Georgia currently lives in Conyers with his wife, Lisa, and their three children - Jamie, Jackson, and Jenna. Southern Is as Southern Does is his fourth book.
